How to Apply

1. Meet the Application Requirements

To be considered for IAEP admission, you must be at least 18 years old, commit to at least three consecutive four-week sessions, demonstrate intermediate to advanced English language proficiency (through test scores) and submit a complete application. Contact IAEP for more information.

2. Compile All Application Materials

A complete IAEP application must include the following original documents:

You should apply at least eight to 10 weeks before your session start date to guarantee space availability and to allow enough time to obtain an F-1 visa. Please send all original documents by airmail or courier to:

Note: Please do not include any application materials, such as letters of recommendation, that are not mentioned in the above list. We cannot consider any additional information, and the documents will not be returned to you.

Access to Your Documents

Once submitted, all application materials become the property of UC Berkeley Extension and cannot be returned, duplicated or forwarded to a third party at any time.

Notice of Acceptance

The full application review process can take three to four weeks, and applications are accepted until the application deadline. Applications are reviewed in the order they are received, and only complete applications are reviewed. IAEP sessions can fill before the application deadline, so send all application documents as soon as possible. You will be notified by mail regarding your acceptance status and further instructions. Transfer Policy

Coming to UC Berkeley Extension from another U.S. school? You can transfer your I-20 Certificate of Eligibility. Academic credit earned at other institutions is not transferable to IAEP. Learn more.
