IAEP Session Dates and Application Deadlines
UC Berkeley Extension offers courses three terms per year: spring, summer and fall. Each term includes three IAEP sessions, and each session is four weeks long.
You may IAEP begin with any term or session, but you must enroll in a minimum of three consecutive sessions. You should apply at least eight to 10 weeks before your first session start date to guarantee space availability and to allow enough time to obtain an F-1 visa.

Program Fees
The program fee is paid to UC Berkeley Extension. Total program cost relates to the total number of sessions:
- Program fee (for minimum three-session commitment): $4,800
- Additional session fee (per four-week session): $1,600
- Annual fee ($900 savings for nine consecutive sessions reserved in advance): $13,500

What does the program fee cover? [hide]
- Regular assessments and English proficiency testing: Throughout the program, you receive regular assessments within core skill areas such as listening, speaking, reading, writing and grammar at each level of English proficiency.
- U.S. medical insurance: Insured for the length of your stay, you are able to visit a hospital or clinic if medical attention is needed due to an injury or sickness. (Note: Insurance prices are subject to periodic increases.)
- Advising and orientation: In addition to regular orientations regarding IAEP procedures, U.S. universities, UC Berkeley Extension certificate programs, and assistance with application procedures and forms, IAEP also provides one-on-one assistance regarding your progress within the program and ways to improve your English fluency. You also receive assistance with health and immigration issues.
- Housing assistance: Advising is provided for full-time international students.
- Computer lab access: You have access to state-of-the-art computer facilities.
- Conversation exchange opportunities: Meet members of the local community for conversation practice.
- Award(s) of Completion: IAEP presents an attractive award upon successful completion of each instruction level.
- Graduation ceremony and reception: Celebrate your success within the program, and hear guest speakers discuss topics of interest for you and fellow students.
In addition to the IAEP program fee, you are responsible for the following expenses:
- One-time application fee: $150 (nonrefundable)
- Textbooks and materials: $100 per session (approximately), based on proficiency level and progress throughout the program

Notice of Acceptance
The full application review process can take three to four weeks, and applications are accepted until the application deadline. Applications are reviewed in the order they are received, and only complete applications are reviewed. IAEP sessions can fill before the application deadline, so send all application documents as soon as possible. You will be notified by mail regarding your acceptance status and further instructions.
