The medical device industry is one of the fastest growing high technology sectors in the United States and in the world. There are currently over 8,000 types of medical device products, and the industry promises even further growth. Scientific advances in medicine, the demographics of an aging population, the integration of drugs and biologics into devices, and the increase in consumer-directed self-care are powering this growth. Gain perspective on the current state of the medical device industry, including local and global opportunities and challenges.
