Modern Standard Arabic I
X50 (3 semester units in Near Eastern Studies)
(formerly Classical Arabic I)
In this introductory course, you learn the Arabic writing system, sounds, basic grammar, and a vocabulary of about 300 words. This course introduces certain aspects of Arab culture, and you learn a small number of terms and phrases in spoken Arabic.
