This course focuses on five of Shakespeare's plays (The Taming of the Shrew, Richard III, Othello, Macbeth, and The Tempest) as literature of immense cultural importance and popular entertainment. You gain an understanding and appreciation of Shakespearean language and literary forms as well as a critical awareness of the continuing reinterpretation of Shakespeare's plots and characters.
