A requirement in the Professional Sequence in Personal Financial PlanningThis course surveys risk management in the areas of life and health insurance, annuities, and property/casualty and liability coverage. Participants learn how to determine insurance needs, evaluate various insurance plans, and evaluate contract selection criteria from a cost-benefit standpoint. Emphasis is on the practical aspects of insurance planning and on the analysis of in-depth case studies.
Instruction also covers income and estate taxation laws as they relate to insurance premiums and benefits and to alternative methods of funding insurance needs. The roles of insurance in business situations and corporate benefits, retirement and estate planning, and charitable trusts are covered, as are cost/benefit analysis of health insurance, cafeteria plans, long-term care, and health saving accounts.
