ALICE W. CLARK, Ph.D., is a visiting scholar at the Center for South Asia Studies, UC Berkeley. She has her doctorate in comparative world history from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and has done postdoctoral work at UC Berkeley. She researches women in India, using perspectives from history, demography, sociology and anthropology.
