General Biology I
X15A (3 semester units in Molecular and Cell Biology)
(formerly General Biology-A)
This course introduces fundamental concepts in biology, including cell structure and function; prokaryotes; eukaryotes; metabolism; molecular and organismal genetics; classification, and animal development, form, and function. The class is designed for biology majors, pre-medical, and pre-health students. In addition, it is appropriate for returning students interested in a "refresher" biology class and professionals in other disciplines considering a career change to the biological sciences. This course is associated with General Biology Laboratory I X15.1A. Lecture may be taken without the laboratory.
Prerequisite: High school chemistry recommended.
