An elective in the Post-Baccalaureate Certificate Program in WritingLearn how to find, research, and write articles for print or online
publications. You also learn how freelancers write stories that
sell. With the instructor’s help, you come up with a nonfiction
story idea, do the reporting and interviewing to gather details
and quotes, write and revise the article, and submit it to an
editor for possible publication. Class participation supplements
lectures and writing exercises.

Abate has a master's degree in journalism from Columbia University, and is the former owner of a typesetting and publishing company.
