An elective in the Post-Baccalaureate Certificate Program in WritingLearn the basic concepts and techniques of writing fiction, with
the aim of heightening your sense of language and developing
your ability to solve problems of structure, characterization,
viewpoint, story line, imagery, dialogue, and believability. The
instructor evaluates your manuscripts and allows time for
classroom discussion. The course is recommended for those
without previous writing experience.

MIMI ALBERT, M.F.A., is a novelist, writer of short fiction and nonfiction, book reviewer, and teacher of creative writing. She has published two novels, The Second Story Man and Skirts (Baskerville Press, Dallas). Both her novels and short fiction have won numerous honors. She has taught creative writing at UC Berkeley Extension for nearly 10 years.

MONICA WESOLOWSKA is a writer whose fiction has appeared in numerous journals and anthologies including The Carolina Quarterly, Quarter After Eight, Best New American Voices 2000, Beach: Stories by the Sand and Sea, and The Writing Path II: Poetry and Prose from Writers' Conferences. This year, her fiction has also been selected for the New Short Fiction Series of dramatic readings in Los Angeles.
