Introduction to Creative Nonfiction
X480 (2 semester units in English)
An elective in the Post-Baccalaureate Certificate Program in WritingCreative nonfiction can take many different forms: narrative nonfiction, literature of reality, literary journalism, immersion journalism, and expository writing and includes the sub-genres of personal essay, memoir, nature and science writing, travel and food writing, historical narrative, biographical narrative, and personal profile. Learn to master the form and elements of creative nonfiction through reading assignments, writing exercises, and the respectful criticism of peer work in a workshop format. The material covered applies to a wide array of disciplines including the humanities, the sciences, and journalism.
