A requirement in the Professional Program in Sustainability and EnergyCurrent U.S. energy consumption pattern is not sustainable. Learn how reliance on fossil fuels creates security, climate change, and public health issues. Examine the threat from the lack of significant incentives to change behavior and shift habits toward sustainable energy consumption in the United States. Study the fundamental impacts from our current energy use and the support infrastructure. Explore our options in transitioning to renewable energy sources and to more sustainable habits.

MIKHAIL CHESTER, Ph.D., is a postdoctoral associate at the UC Berkeley Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. His research focuses on the energy and environmental implications of transportation as well as the feasibility of renewable energy project implementation for cities and states.
