Literary, Legal, and Historical Responses to the Cambodian Genocide
X400 (3 semester units in South and Southeast Asian Studies)
Gain an understanding of the Cambodian genocide between 1975 and 1979 through an interdisciplinary investigation. Study the Khmer Rouge leadership, whose policies led to the deaths of approximately one-third of the Cambodian population. Then examine the legal and political responses to the genocide as well as its effects on survivors and their healing process in the ensuing decades.

GEORGE CHIGAS, Ph.D., has a doctorate from the School of Oriental and African Studies at the University of London. He has worked in Cambodia and in refugee camps in the Philippines and Thailand, and was previously the associate director of the Cambodian Genocide Program at Yale University.
