Treatment of Co-Occurring Disorders in the LGBT Community
(0.6 ceu)
6 hours CE credit: BRN, LCSW/MFT, CAADAC, and psychologists
Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people seek behavioral health services at a greater rate than the general population and report greater dissatisfaction with the services they receive, often based on the perceived attitudes or lack of knowledge of the provider. Understand the complex issues that people encounter when they are accepting and expressing a sexual orientation or identity that differs from the majority. In this workshop, you learn how to create a more informed and comfortable dialog with LGBT clients and gain a better understanding of issues related to sexual longings, expression, and self-acceptance. You also become familiar with treatment approaches that are geared specifically for LGBT people.
