Teaching Academic Writing to Learners of ESL/EFL
X319.5 (2 semester units in Education)
Gain a deeper understanding of the key issues and difficulties of second or foreign language writing. You learn to plan and design appropriate lessons with relevant activities for teaching academic writing to learners of English as a second or foreign language. Teachers in training as well as in-service teachers who may be teaching academic writing to students of ESL/EFL, remedial English, or mainstream English situations can benefit from this course.
Prerequisite: Methods and Materials for Teaching EFL/ESL X339.1A or equivalent ESL/EFL teaching experience.

DARIA SOONG-YOUNG SUK, M.S. in linguistics specilaizing in TESOL, has been an ESL/EFL instructor, teacher trainer, and material developer in the United States and South Korea. She has researched and published in TESL/TEFL and SLA fields on topics of learner interaction, language learning, teaching methodology, and material development.NOTE: This class is closed.
