From Pitch to Print: A Five-Week Introduction to Public Relations Workshop
Learn the essentials of public relations and get a start on a
new career. You learn how to make your message newsworthy
and how to understand media conventions so you can pitch
effectively and ensure optimum coverage. Learn how to write
press releases and e-mail pitches and how to package and sell
them. Also learn how to spread your news through strategic
use of new media. Final press packets are critiqued by the
instructor and guest journalist, giving you the experience to
think and write as both a publicist and a journalist.

DEBRA LEVI HOLTZ, M.S.J., is the media relations manager and communications writer at the San Francisco AIDS Foundation. Her memoir, Of Unknown Origin, was published in 2001. She is a former writer for the San Francisco Chronicle and received her master's degree in journalism from Northwestern University.
