Fundamentals of Wine Studies I: Wines of California and Europe

A core course in the Professional Program in Wine StudiesThis serves as one of two introductory and essential courses in wine studies. In this course, you explore the characteristics of different wine types, the methods of production and aging, and the history of California's wine industry. You learn tasting techniques and the proper care and serving of wine. Tastings of representative California, French, German, Italian, Spanish, and Portuguese wines follow the lectures, with emphasis on comparing California and European wines of similar types. Course fee includes all wines to be tasted in the course.
Note: Please bring six glasses to each session. You must be at least 21 years old to enroll in this course.

The author of The Good Life Guide to Enjoying Wine, Johnson teaches at Santa Rosa Junior College. His master's degree is in wine business from the University of Adelaide in South Australia.
