Reading as a Writer, Writing as a Reader
X7 (2 semester units in English)
Most successful writers are also avid readers. In this course you learn to read with the eyes of a fiction writer, determining what makes great literature work. You read and analyze works from a list that includes short stories and novels, classic greats and contemporary treasures. In addition to reading, you respond creatively to what you read, taking time each class to employ specific techniques learned—producing unexpected work. Appropriate for all levels of fiction writers, this course gives you the chance to create a varied portfolio of new writing, as well as the ability to turn any book into your own best teacher.
