Field Experience in Chemical Dependency—CAADAC Option
X159 (3 semester units in Public Health)
A requirement in the Certificate Program in Alcohol and Drug Abuse StudiesThis course covers all the material in the two-unit version of Field Experience in Chemical Dependency but extends the coursework and requires 255 CAADAC-eligible internship hours. The instructor will approve placement sites and student assignments based on CAADAC acceptability and an individualized assessment of student capabilities. Prerequisite: Completion of all Level I and II courses in the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Studies program or consent of instructor.

PERRI FRANSKOVIAK, Ph.D., is a community programs manager for the Harm Reduction Therapy Center at Tenderloin Health. She also facilitates management training and a process group, as well as groups for volunteers at Hospitality House in San Francisco. She has been working in community settings for more than 15 years.
