(0.7 ceu)
7 hours MCLE credit for attorneys
The Subdivision Map Act is one of the most basic and important statutes governing land use planning in California. Administering and interpreting the act is often problematic due to its inherent inconsistencies and discrepancies.
This course provides a thorough overview of the provisions of California laws that govern the subdivision of land, focusing on the most important of all, the Subdivision Map Act. Legislative amendments and new interpretations resulting from recent court decisions are covered, as well as the relationship of the Subdivision Map Act to the General Plan, specific plans, zoning, and the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). Problems of practice under the act are examined as well as enforcement and grounds for approval or denial.
