Latin III: Readings in Classical Latin Literature
X22 (3 semester units in Classics)
In this seminar, participants read, analyze, and discuss the literature and thought of selected masters of classical Latin prose and poetry. After a review of grammar, students will read selected "Loci Immutati" in
Wheelock's Latin. They will also read Petronius's
Satyricon and Apuleius's
Metamorphoses. All of these works are studied in Latin and careful attention is given to pertinent grammatical structures, oratorical forms, and relevant linguistic and historical points.
Enrollment is limited. The course may be repeated for a total of nine semester units.
Prerequisite: Latin II X21 or equivalent.
