Introduction to Landscape Architecture
X25 (2 semester units in Landscape Architecture)
A requirement in the Certificate Program in Landscape ArchitectureGet an orientation to landscape architecture as one of the environmental design professions in this survey, a beginning course in the Certificate Program in Landscape Architecture. Lectures and field trips explore the history of landscape architecture; the central ideas of the profession; the role of the designer in the problem-solving process; and the nature, modes, and scope of current landscape architectural practice.

JENNIFER IVANOVICH, M.L.A., graduated from UC Berkeley in 2002. She traveled extensively throughout Europe during her studies, researching the aesthetic implications of wind farms. After several years in the private sector, she works as a freelance landscape designer.

JACOB TOBIAS, M.L.A., is a landscape architect at Wallace, Roberts & Todd in San Francisco. He earned his master's degree in landscape architecture at UC Berkeley, where he has also taught. In addition, he has been a guest lecturer for various courses in the Landscape Architecture Certificate Program at UC Berkeley Extension.
