X443.2 (1 semester unit in Architecture)

A requirement in the Certificate Program in Interior Design and Interior Architecture

Develop an understanding of interior architecture through research into both the general principles of design and the specific histories of interiors and designers. During the course you study both contemporary and historic interior spaces to learn how to critically assess how these designs create a livable environment. You investigate specific components of interior design such as scale, density, and the concept of place to understand how to communicate what creates a successful design and how to cultivate that success in your own work.

Prerequisites: Introduction to Interior Design X408.4 and Principles and Elements of Design X412.1 or consent of instructor.
