Autumn Plants and Applications
X446 (3 semester units in Landscape Architecture)
A requirement in the Certificate Program in Landscape ArchitectureThis field-trip course presents a detailed study of the visual characteristics, nomenclature, cultural requirements, and design applications of 125 landscape plant species. Emphasis is on plants valued for their autumn foliage, color, blooms, or fruit. You learn to recognize the plants in several situations and stages of maturity, and to develop a plant palette varied enough to be used in preparing basic planting plans.
Note: Class meeting locations change weekly. Wear walking shoes.

SUZANNE ARCA, B.A., is a certified horticulturist, landscape designer, and contractor with 27 years of experience in the field. She is owner of Suzanne Arca Design, a Bay Area design/build company. QUIN ELLIS, A.S., horticulturist and author, is a managing partner of a small design/build company. He has taught throughout the Bay Area in various Master Gardener programs, including those at Strybing Arboretum and the College of Marin.
