Somatic Aspects of Loss and Grief

An elective in the Professional Program in the Study of Loss and GriefEffective health care and counseling approaches attempting to alleviate or transform the effects of grief include both physical and mental treatment methods. This two-day course provides information, skills, and resources needed to understand the grief process, demonstrate combining physical/verbal, eastern/western therapeutic modalities, teach the art of skillful communication, and instruct the use of combining both western and eastern therapies. Intended for health and mental health professionals, hospice staff, clergy, first responders, massage therapists, and any others who work in settings with individuals facing loss and grief.

LYN PRASHANT, CT, M.A., CMT, is a health educator, certified grief counselor, massage teacher/therapist, yoga instructor, doctoral candidate, and author of Degriefing: The Art of Transforming Grief and The New Art of Degriefing. She presents "degriefing" programs at the Mayo Clinic, Zen Hospice Project, and elsewhere, and maintains private practices in Marin County and Mexico.NOTE: This class is closed.
