A core course in the Post-Baccalaureate Certificate Program in Information Systems and ManagementReview software project management and discuss the latest approaches, methodologies, and standards of software development. You learn to evaluate initial development costs and schedules: defining testing and prototype activities,
determining risk management approaches, and managing the full software life cycle from the proposal stage to the retirement stage. This course is intended for software managers and principal computer scientists.
Prerequisite: B.A. or B.S., or consent of the instructor

Alka Jarvis, M.B.A., is a software quality manager at Cisco Systems in San Jose. Recipient of Silicon Valley's "Corporate Woman of the Year Award," Jarvis has authored five books, including Inroads to Software Quality, Dare to Be Excellent and TL 9000. She is the chair of the U.S. Technical Advisory Group to TC 176, the group responsible for representing U.S. interests in ISO 9000 standards and is a RAB-certified Lead Auditor of Quality Systems. Jarvis is an adjunct professor at Santa Clara University.
