Philanthropy as a Wealth Management Tool

X414.5 (2 semester units in Business Administration)

A requirement in the Professional Sequence in Wealth Management; an elective in the Certificate Program in Finance and in the Professional Sequence in Personal Financial Planning

Review charitable giving techniques, including charitable remainder trusts, nontrust giving techniques, gift annuities, use of private foundations, use of donor-advised funds and supporting organizations, postmortem charitable planning and a number of significant related topics.

Prerequisites: Students need to hold a bachelor's degree and have two years of experience in a financial services industry. Students should also have completed the introductory course, Understanding Wealth Management X414.3.
