Katherine Sharpe is the author of Coming of Age on Zoloft (Harper Perennial, 2012), a critically acclaimed nonfiction work about the first generation to be raised on antidepressants. Her work has appeared in n+1, The Wall Street Journal, The Huffington Post, The Chronicle of Higher Education, Scientific American Mind, Washington Post Magazine, GOOD Magazine, ReadyMade Magazine, The Rumpus and others. A former Web editor in New York, she now lives and writes in Berkeley.

A requirement in the Post-Baccalaureate Certificate Program in Writing and in the Specialized Program in Professional WritingGood writing isn’t fussy. It’s clear, concise and grammatically correct—no matter the audience or purpose. In this course, prepare to draft, write and revise your own work; read literary essays as examples of effective syntax and coherent structure; share work in a supportive, focused workshop environment; and review common grammar pitfalls. This course is designed for those wishing to hone their skills for any writing need.
Prerequisite: You must be proficient in English and have a solid grasp of English grammar.

Lindsey Crittenden, M.A., is the author of The View From Below: Stories and The Water Will Hold You, a memoir. Her award-winning short fiction has appeared and is forthcoming in in spring 2013, Glimmer Train, Bellingham Review, Pisgah Review and elsewhere. She has also published articles and personal essays in The New York Times, Real Simple, Image and Best American Spiritual Writing. Crittenden lives in San Francisco and has taught writing at UC Berkeley Extension since 2000. Her blog can be found at lindseycrittenden.wordpress.com.

Marc Schiffman, M.F.A., has taught a variety of writing and literature courses over the years for the University of Maryland. He also has published short stories and articles in many literary journals, and his novel The Man Who Controls the Earth was published in 2012. He has lived and worked in Japan, South Korea and Thailand. When asked if he could change one thing about himself he replied, "I'd give more and take less," and instead of being a writer he would be a pilgrim, traveler and itinerant golfer.
