Introduction to Mixed Signal IC Test and Measurement

There are currently no sections open for enrollment.

X420 (2 semester units in EE)

This course teaches the concepts for testing the Analog, Digital and Mixed signal circuits. This course includes the test specification process and test plan development. The students will learn DC and AC tests and techniques, concepts of test instrument calibration, measurement accuracy and repeatability, tester hardware, device interface board design, design for test and test data analysis. Students will learn DSP-based testing. Students will prepare and deliver short presentations based on the most recently published test techniques.

A mixed signal circuit can be defined as a circuit consisting of both digital and analog components. Analog-only circuits include operational amplifiers, voltage regulators and other specialized functions. Digital circuits include logic. The most common mixed signal circuits are analog to digital converters and digital to analog converters. Another common mixed signal circuit is the phase locked loop.
