Interior Finishes and Materials

A requirement in the Certificate Program in Interior Design and Interior ArchitectureLearn how to use finishes and materials appropriately for interior applications. Study how materials are installed and how they transition into one another. Understand the substructure on which they are applied and how to specify materials properly. Activities include lectures and panel discussions by product representatives. Field trips to showrooms and manufacturing facilities expand your resource base.

Courses are offered three terms per year: spring, summer, fall. Information about upcoming courses is available when enrollment opens each term.
- Spring term: Enrollment opens in early December. Classes begin in January.
- Summer term: Enrollment opens in early April. Classes begin in late May.
- Fall term: Enrollment opens in early July. Classes begin in August.

Cheryl Gordon, B.F.A., B.A., LEED AP, IIDA, is interior design director with K2A Architecture + Interiors. A graduate of the University of Michigan School of Art and Design, her work in commercial art emphasizes color and surface ornamentation. A second degree in Interior Architecture from the California College of the Arts has led to a 20-year career in interior design with an emphasis on educational and health care projects. She is an active member of the Northern California Chapter of the International Interior Design Association where she has been honored for her leadership and service.
