Steel Design for Nonstructural Engineers

Learn the basic design of steel structures in this survey course, which is open to both engineers and nonengineers. The course begins with an overview of properties of steel and steel-design codes and follows with lectures covering the design of steel beams and columns, as well as structural diaphragms. This course culminates with the design of a simple steel structure. You also learn about building codes governing structural design, including requirements for gravity, wind and earthquake loads.

- Spring term: Enrollment opens in early December. Classes begin in January.
- Summer term: Enrollment opens in early April. Classes begin in late May.
