An elective in the Certificate Program in Alcohol and Drug Abuse StudiesGet an overview of the basic strategies and skills needed to effectively counsel those who are on probation or parole. Learn how to apply effective counseling techniques, such as motivational interviewing. Examine the wide range of rehabilitation interventions for criminal offenders. Become familiar with the criminal and addictive personality and how to respond to possible manipulative behaviors. In this workshop, you also learn about the forensic skill set and how to add this area of expertise to your practice.
