Intermediate Fiction Writing

An elective in the Post-Baccalaureate Certificate Program in WritingExplore the craft of writing fiction, particularly if you have already completed Introduction to Writing Fiction X464 or the equivalent. Lectures and in-class exercises focus on the short story; however, if you are primarily interested in working on a novel, you can still benefit greatly. Examine the intricacies of plotting, narrative voice and personal style. Class sessions include instructor-led critiques of your work and focus on improving your ability to edit and revise your stories.
Enrollment is limited to 18.

Courses are offered three terms per year: spring, summer, fall. Information about upcoming courses is available when enrollment opens each term.
- Spring term: Enrollment opens in early December. Classes begin in January.
- Summer term: Enrollment opens in early April. Classes begin in late May.
- Fall term: Enrollment opens in early July. Classes begin in August.
