Christopher Greene, B.A., is a well-regarded wine importer in the Bay Area and has been a guest lecturer in UC Berkeley Extension courses. He makes regular trips to Europe to select wines for his business. He is a certified sommelier through the Court of Master Sommeliers.

Explore the characteristics of different wine types, the methods of production and aging, and the history of California’s wine industry. Learn tasting techniques with emphasis on comparing Californian and European wines of similar varietals and the proper care and serving of wine. Tastings of representative Californian, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese wines follow the lectures.
Note: Bring six wineglasses to each session. You must be at least 21 years old to enroll in this course.

David Lee, B.S., CSW, is a certified sommelier and owner of WineSkool, a wine education company focused on wine appreciation and restaurant consulting. He was a faculty member of the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco instructing both back-of-house culinary students and front-of-house hospitality students in wine-region knowledge in a restaurant setting. He also has practical experience working on wine production teams for commercial wineries.
