Rachel Smith, M.F.A., is a designer and artist whose work focuses on creating design solutions and branding. She has completed projects for a variety of clients in the Bay Area that includes small businesses, startups, UC Berkeley, and the San Francisco Department of Health. She teaches courses in Web design and drawing at the University of San Francisco.

Dona Turner, B.F.A., is a graphic designer, artist and illustrator. She works in package design, and her fine art design is represented by several Bay Area galleries. Her illustrations appear nationally on greeting cards and posters.

A requirement in the Professional Sequence in Graphic DesignGraphic design encompasses many specialties, from advertising and Web design to illustration and packaging. Through a series of challenging foundation projects, gain an understanding of the basic principles of graphic design. Discuss design-related skills, portfolio requirements and work opportunities. Guest lecturers provide a firsthand look at the imagination and skills applied in graphic design. This course is essential if you are interested in entering the field or beginning the Professional Sequence in Graphic Design.

Ivan Trujillo, M.F.A., specializes in packaging and publication design and is the founder of REFORM Studio for recycled glass products. He has worked for a variety of companies, including Kimberly-Clark Corporation, Acuity Brands, Anthem and IDEO. As a freelancer designer, Trujillo worked with Dunhill, Puma, Safeway, Lexus and Marilyn Jaeger Skincare. He is the academic director of graphic design, advertising, and web design and interactive media at the Art Institute of San Francisco, where he also teaches graphic design.

Bruce Yelaska, B.A., is principal of Bruce Yelaska Design, San Francisco. He works in several areas of graphic design, including packaging, corporate identity and architectural signage. His work has been widely published and has received numerous awards.
