John Muster, Ph.D., has 25 years of experience in teaching and research projects in how students learn technical skills. He has written leading UNIX texts with instructor support materials and conducted seminars for teaching professionals. He currently teaches UNIX for Fortune 500 companies and at UC Berkeley Extension. He is president of Sherpa Press, publisher of university textbooks.

A Core Course in the Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Information Systems and ManagementMaster essential skills of the UNIX operating system, including manipulating data using grep, sed, awk, join and other power utilities; programming advanced applications using the shell; customizing user accounts; and performing fundamental system operations.
Note: This course offers lectures and demonstrations, as well as online assignments. Internet access is required; a login and password will be issued to you by the second class meeting.
Prerequisite:
UNIX/Linux System Fundamentals X426.1A or equivalent experience
