Learn the principles and methods used to create local area networks to connect to the Internet and the Web, and to interconnect autonomous computers. You get an introduction to the fundamentals and the framework necessary to keep pace with changes in networking technologies. Topics are covered using TCP/IP and the framework of the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) layered model.
Prerequisite: Experience and some familiarity with computer or data communication systems is recommended.

Courses are offered three terms per year: spring, summer, fall. Information about upcoming courses is available when enrollment opens each term.
- Spring term: Enrollment opens in early December. Classes begin in January.
- Summer term: Enrollment opens in early April. Classes begin in late May.
- Fall term: Enrollment opens in early July. Classes begin in August.
