Treating Adults With Co-Occurring Disorders: The Dialectical Behavior Approach

This workshop introduces participants to the use of the dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) in assessing and treating individuals with co-occurring substance abuse and other mental disorders. Basic principles of DBT as well as optimal treatment strategies are described, with a focus on their treatment implications for various groups, including women and other vulnerable populations. Didactic material, demonstrations, as well as some experiential exercises using mindfulness skills are included in the class.

Courses are offered three terms per year: spring, summer, fall. Information about upcoming courses is available when enrollment opens each term.
- Spring term: Enrollment opens in early December. Classes begin in January.
- Summer term: Enrollment opens in early April. Classes begin in late May.
- Fall term: Enrollment opens in early July. Classes begin in August.
