Q. How many courses are required for this certificate?
A. There are 8 required courses.
Q. How long does it take to complete the certificate?
A. Though the certificate is self-paced, most students take one-and-a-half to two years to complete the courses. You have a maximum of five years to complete all courses.
Q. Can I complete this certificate online?
A. Yes.
Q. What is the estimated cost of the certificate?
A. While each course is priced individually, the certificate has an estimated cost of $6,925. Course fees are subject to change.
Q. What day does a class start? Where does it take place?
A. For all information on current courses, please consult our course catalog or the Certificate Program in Accounting website at extension.berkeley.edu/cert/account.html.
Q. I already took a few of the required courses at another college. Can I transfer the credits to UC Berkeley Extension?
A. You may request to transfer up to two courses from an accredited U.S. university if the courses were taken in the past five years. For more information, please request the Substitution and Transfer Guidelines from the department.
Q. I am interested in taking the CPA Exam. Do the courses at UC Berkeley Extension count toward the required 24 units of Accounting, Taxation, and Auditing credit required by the state CPA board? If so, which courses are eligible?
A. Yes. All of the courses in the Accounting section of the UC Berkeley Extension catalog count toward the CPA exam requirements. Please check state CPA requirements to confirm eligibility.
Q. Do you have counselors, career advisers, or job placement?
A. No, at this time we do not provide these services to our students, though the certificate representative is happy to discuss outside options and opportunities with you.
