You will need to fulfill UC Berkeley requirements, and those of your major, to complete your bachelor's degree. The Fall Program for Freshmen (FPF) designs its course offerings to get students started on completing the UC Berkeley graduation requirements. You may choose up to four FPF courses.
Most FPF courses are designed to meet the needs of undergraduates who intend to enroll in UC Berkeley's College of Letters and Science in the spring. Other colleges and schools, such as the College of Engineering (COE) and Haas School of Business, have slightly different requirements. If you are a COE student or intend to apply to Haas, please refer to those programs when selecting your fall courses.

FPF staff members are available once instruction begins for adding and dropping courses and for general advising.
Between April and August, however, you are expected to make initial course selections using the tools and resources of this site. For guidance on selecting your fall coursework, follow the Academic Checklist, and refer back to the requirements on this page. You are ultimately responsible for ensuring that you do not take classes that fulfill requirements you have already completed.
You may also utilize the FAQ and search engine to find specific information. If you have questions and can't find answers on our website, you may contact us via e-mail. FPF staff time is limited for advising so please expect a delay of two or three business days.
UC Berkeley's College of Letters and Science and College of Engineering will hold special advising sessions for FPF students in late October. FPF students will receive more information on these sessions in early October.
It would have been a harder transition into the second semester without FPF. I feel a part of Berkeley and I am settled in socially and academically.
