Fall Program for Freshmen (FPF) from Start to Finish

Here's a general outline of what you'll be doing from now until spring 2010:

  1. When you receive admission for the spring term, decide if you want to reserve a space in FPF. You may reserve a space in FPF before deciding to come to UC Berkeley.
  2. Submit your Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) to Cal by May 1. We will confirm your enrollment in FPF after May 1.
  3. Use the Academic Checklist to choose your fall courses. If you have questions about the process, e-mail our FPF advisers. Submit your Course Selection Form before the June 1 deadline.
  4. Apply for housing. Note: On-campus housing is not guaranteed.
  5. Plan to attend an FPF Cal Student Orientation session in July.
  6. Submit your English Composition/Writing test scores to FPF by July 24.
  7. Pay your Cal eBill* for your fall semester by August 15.
  8. Get your FPF Class Schedule. Please remember that our policies on schedule changes are different than those on campus.
  9. Plan to arrive at Cal! Get situated, meet other students, and explore the campus.
  10. Attend classes! We recommend purchasing your books after you’ve finalized your class schedule.
  11. Meet with an FPF adviser, even it's just to say "hi" or ask a simple question. That's what we're here for!
  12. Maintain a 2.0 GPA in your fall coursework. Attend Office Hours, get tutoring from the Student Learning Center, and join study groups.
  13. Start planning your spring semester course schedule in October. (We’ll guide you through this).
  14. Take your final exams in December.
  15. You’re done! Well, sort of. Take a break before the spring semester begins. FPF will transfer your fall coursework to UC Berkeley. Your fall semester grades will be available on Bearfacts in mid-April.
  16. If you need a transcript before mid-April (for insurance, internships, or job applications), make sure to order one from UC Berkeley Extension early.
