UC Berkeley Extension Names New Associate Dean and CFO

Berkeley, CA. (July 7, 2009) — UC Berkeley Extension, a leading provider of professional and continuing education, has named Dr. Jason Lemon as Associate Dean, and Ted Huang as its new CFO. Both Lemon and Huang report to Diana Wu, Dean of UC Berkeley Extension. Dr. Lemon was most recently Director of Online Learning at Extension, where he successfully managed Extension's online portfolio of more than 140 online courses and increased online enrollment more than forty percent.

"I came to UC Berkeley Extension in 2007 because I was drawn to the challenge of expanding and growing a world-class online learning unit at the world's best public university," said Lemon. "My original enthusiasm multiplied when I took on the role of Associate Dean of Extension. As the Chief Academic Officer of Extension I can see so many opportunities and possibilities before us—even in the face of incredibly difficult financial times we have seen enrollment growth in key areas."

Prior to UC Berkeley Extension, Dr. Lemon was Director of Distance Learning Services, Business Development, and Academic Partnerships at Compass Knowledge Group.

"Jason brings his strong academic background and experience, along with an entrepreneurial vision and knowledge of new learning technologies to the job of Associate Dean," said Diana Wu, Dean of UC Berkeley Extension. "His valuable experience will help position Extension as a leading provider of Berkeley-quality continuing education."

Ted Huang, UC Berkeley Extension's new CFO, was most recently a director with Alvarez & Marsal Business Consulting in San Francisco where he provided operational and financial performance improvement solutions to high-tech clients. Mr. Huang has also worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers as a turnaround consultant responsible for developing and implementing restructuring plans for underperforming companies across a variety of industries.

"I am absolutely thrilled and honored to be able to bring my corporate restructuring experience to UC Berkeley Extension," said Huang. "As an alumnus, I've always wanted to give back to the University so this is a great opportunity to help both Cal and Extension at the same time."

"Ted possesses a winning combination of leadership, financial planning, and negotiation skills that will help ensure that Extension continues to be successful and profitable as we expand and grow as an organization," said Wu.
