Historic Oxford Setting
Immerse yourself in the magical daily rhythms of life at Oxford: morning seminars with an English don, discussions over tea with classmates, afternoon strolls through Oxford’s botanical gardens and world-renowned museums, and evenings spent taking in the theater at Oxford Playhouse or having a pint at the Turf Tavern.

Stimulating Courses
Choose from ten seminars covering a variety of topics sure to provide food for thought and stimulating discussion: from Shakespeare’s comedies and ancient Greek mythology to the history of England’s cathedrals and abbeys, you’re sure to find a course of interest. During the three-week session, your seminar meets every weekday morning with the afternoons kept free for independent study.

Live at Medieval Merton College
Live and study at Merton College, located in the heart of Oxford. Founded in 1264, Merton is one of the oldest and most beautiful colleges in Oxford with its architecture, picturesque gargoyles, and mullioned windows. The Merton campus offers a quiet, sylvan setting, spacious grounds, and tree-shaded meadows sloping down to the Cherwell River.

At Merton you will experience the centuries-old stained glass beauty of the chapel, drink tea in the cloisters, or read in the Bodleian Library where scholars such as T.S. Eliot, J.R.R. Tolkien, and Lord Randolph Churchill studied. You’ll dine at rectory tables with your classmates and tutors and enjoy the engaging, lively meal time conversations that are one of the many highlights of the Oxford experience.

Like-minded Colleagues and Outstanding Faculty
Learn in the company of like-minded adults who share your intellectual curiosity and sense of adventure. Expand your friendships and enjoy the camaraderie of people from across the country and all walks of life—teachers, doctors, retirees, students, homemakers and others.

You’re taught in small seminars by British university scholars who are experts in their fields. All are gifted and experienced teachers, experts in their subjects, and enthusiastic about sharing their knowledge.

Earn Academic Credit
Earn three semester units of academic credit for each three-week course. Upon completion of coursework, a certificate is issued and grades are recorded with the UC Berkeley Extension Registrar.
