The most significant element in our programs is the quality of the instructor. We create the program around the academic expertise of our instructors. All are gifted and experienced teachers, experts in their subjects, and enthusiastic about sharing their knowledge.
In Oxford you can expect six to twelve people in each class, with the total enrollment for the Oxford program approximately 100.
You must be at least 19 years of age to participate in the Oxford/Berkeley Program. In addition, the Oxford program recommends that participants have completed at least two years of college.
Oxford/Berkeley Program courses each carry 3 semester units of academic credit that will appear on your UC Berkeley Extension transcript. Credit earned in undergraduate-level courses (those numbered X1–X199) or in professional postgraduate-level courses (those numbered X400–X499) may be acceptable toward a bachelor's degree or credential program within the limitations prescribed by various colleges and schools.
Acceptance of Extension course credit at UC Berkeley or other institutions is always determined by the institution to which the student is applying. Policies regarding the acceptance of credit toward a degree or credential vary widely. If you plan to transfer credit, check with University of California Admissions Office or the institution you are attending or plan to attend before enrolling in the Oxford/Berkeley Program.
Participants must be in good physical and mental health and be able to keep up with the pace of the group. Program participants requiring extraordinary assistance must be accompanied by someone who can and will provide all required assistance. If you have any questions about the pace of a particular program, please contact our office for more information.
The Oxford/Berkeley Program is designed exclusively by UC Berkeley Extension for an audience such as yourselfintellectually curious, independent adults who wish to widen their horizons through traveling and discovering the world through the lens of an academic discipline. You do not need to be a UC Berkeley student, former student, or even an American citizen to participate in the program. While there is a wide range of ages on our program, the average participant is aged 50 to 60.

A $500 service fee is charged against refunds requested after the second payment due date and prior to the final payment due date.
