Course Fees and Field Trip Fees

The course fee, $5,700 for the three-week course includes tuition, single room, and all meals in the college for the duration of your course. The course fee does not include travel to and from Oxford, or fees for field trips, which will be collected in British pounds at Oxford. An approximate fee for field trips is $50 to $300, but it should be remembered that this is only approximate and various factors may cause it to be modified. A limited number of rooms with private bathrooms are available for a supplemental fee of $850.

Please remember that all fees must be paid by April 2, 2010. If for any reason you cannot pay fees by this date and need an extension, please notify us as soon as possible.

Refund Policy

A refund less $200 is granted if requested in writing prior to Feb. 19, 2010. There will be a $500 service charge against refunds requested on or after Feb. 19, 2010 and prior to April 2, 2010. No refunds are granted on or after April 2, 2010. UC Berkeley Extension cannot make exceptions to the program refund policy; we strongly recommend the purchase of vacation cancellation insurance. UC Berkeley Extension is not responsible for nonrefundable air ticket costs or any travel costs not included in the program fee.

Vacation Cancellation Insurance

Vacation cancellation insurance is strongly recommended to protect against nonrefundable costs incurred when travel must be canceled on short notice. Information is available from Clark Schafer at Travel Insurance Company, 610 16th Street, Suite 508, Oakland, CA 94612, (800) 540–3366, or from your own travel agent.

Passport or Visa Requirements

As a traveler to a foreign country, you must have a valid passport. To obtain a passport, telephone the nearest passport office (listed under U.S. Government, State Department) and ask to have the required form mailed to you. Forms are available at public offices, such as post offices, courthouses, or municipal offices where passport applications are accepted. The completed form must be presented in person at the federal office in your area, a county courthouse, or a designated post office authorized to accept passport applications. It is advisable to apply early.

You can also visit the Department of State website to download forms or to get more information about various passport services.

If you are not a citizen of the United States, you should call the Office of Immigration and Naturalization for travel requirements.

Student visas are now required to study in England. The Oxford University Department
for Continuing Education will provide you with a letter stating that you've been
accepted at Oxford to study. This will take the place of a student visa; please
present the letter when you check in at the airport. If you plan to visit other
countries before or after your stay in England, you should call the local consulate
of the country in which you plan to travel.

Enrollment Deadline

Provided there is space, enrollments can be accepted up to six weeks prior to the program's beginning date. Please call (510) 642–3824 for availability.

Cancellation

UC Berkeley Extension reserves the right to cancel any program due to insufficient enrollment or other extraordinary circumstances, in which case all program fees are refundable. UC Berkeley Extension is not responsible for nonrefundable air ticket costs or any other travel/accommodation costs not included in the program fee.

Please Note: UC Berkeley Extension reserves the right not to accept any person as a participant in its Oxford/Berkeley Program, or to require any participant to withdraw from the Oxford/Berkeley Program when such action is determined by a UC Berkeley Extension representative to be in the best interests of the health, safety, or general welfare of the individual or the other participants.
