3-Course Series
Java Programming
(EDP 122234)
The demand for trained Java programmers is driven by the flexible nature of the language.
Organizations running diverse networks and Internet sites that must pass information among
Windows
NT, Macintosh, and UNIX platforms can count on Java as a general-purpose, object-oriented
solution
to their diverse network requirements.
This sequence helps you develop the knowledge and skills necessary to put Java to
work on real
projects. It is best suited for programmers with a background in at least one other programming
language, such as C, C++, or Visual Basic. On successful completion of the sequence, you will
be
comfortable with Java's new and advanced capabilities in real Java programs.
Requirements
The professional sequence comprises three 30-hour/
2-unit courses for a total of 90 hours/6 units. All coursework must be completed within two years
with
a minimum grade point average of 2.5 and no grade lower than C in any course. There are no
substitutions. We recommend taking the courses in the sequence listed:
Required Courses
Java: Discovering Its Power
X436.2
Advanced Java: Language, Internals, and Techniques
X436.5 (offered future term)
Advanced Java: Developing with APIs
X436.4
