Microsoft Access is a scalable, powerful relational database management system that allows you to manage data sets from simple customer lists to more complex inventory and order tracking systems. Our Microsoft Access Series is offered in a three-tiered approach to meet differing levels of experience. Each course provides hands-on instruction at the UC Berkeley Extension Computer Training Facilities. Join our email list to stay informed about this program.

You may enroll in individual courses without registering for the Microsoft Access Series.
The Microsoft Access Series is ideal if you are an entry-level database administrator who wishes to build a solid foundation for your daily job tasks. This program is also suitable if you are technically inclined and wish to change your career path from a nondatabase-related position to a more database-related one.
You should be comfortable navigating in a Windows environment and performing file management tasks such as copying, moving and renaming. No database experience is necessary.
You should have convenient root user or administrator access to a robust computer and the ability to install software. You are expected to acquire and install or have access to the software as required for course assignments related to this program. Please refer to the software creator's website or technical support staff about equipment configuration requirements and software compatibility.
The curriculum consists of 3 required courses for a total of 6 semester units (90 hours of instruction).
All coursework must be completed within three years of registering for the program. However, requirements may be updated based on new developments in the field of study; we recommend completing the curriculum in a timely fashion. By registering, you declare your intention to complete the curriculum. To register for the Microsoft Access Series, submit the online registration form with your credit card information or complete the mail-in registration form. The registration fee is nonrefundable.
Each course is priced individually, and you pay the course fee at the time of enrollment. The program has an estimated cost of $2,100 (not including course materials or registration fee). Course fees are subject to change.

Michael Kremer, M.S., Ph.D., Extension Honored Instructor, is a computer systems engineer with Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. He has more than 20 years of experience in the computer programming industry, from mainframe and supercomputer scientific programming to designing and programming databases to developing applications. He has been teaching Microsoft Access courses and database and application courses at UC Berkeley Extension for 15 years.
