The Professional Program in English Learner Pedagogy gives you the teaching skills and knowledge needed to work successfully with English learners, students whose native language is not English, in any learning environment. You learn from outstanding professionals in the field and gain the latest in language acquisition, the foundations and methods of English language instruction and the assessment of English learners. Course availability is subject to change. It is recommended that you take CTEL 4 before taking CTEL 3, because the foundation for CTEL 3 is provided in CTEL 4.

You may enroll in individual courses without registering for the Professional Program in English Learner Pedagogy.
If you work with English learners but are not a credentialed teacher—such as a private or charter school teacher, corporate trainer, after-school and child care provider, tutor or counselor—you will learn effective teaching skills and strategies to support the academic achievement of English learners.
There are no prerequisites for the Professional Program in English Learner Pedagogy.
The curriculum consists of 5 required courses for a total of 12 semester units and 0.2 ceu (182 hours of instruction). Candidates must pay a nonrefundable program registration fee.
All coursework must be completed within five years of registering for the program. However, requirements may be updated based on new developments in the field of study; we recommend completing the curriculum in a timely fashion. For more information, please see the completion requirements.
By registering, you declare your intention to complete the curriculum. To register for the Professional Program in English Learner Pedagogy, submit the online registration form with your credit card information or complete the mail-in registration form. The registration fee is nonrefundable.
Each course is priced individually, and you pay the course fee at the time of enrollment. The program has an estimated cost of $2,200 (not including course materials or registration fee). Course fees are subject to change.

The Professional Program in English Learner Pedagogy is different from the English Learner Authorization recommendation obtained from UC Berkeley Extension.
