Get education and training in the preservation and management of cultural landscapes—places that include historic, cultural and natural resources associated with an important historic event, activity, person or group of people. The Professional Sequence in Cultural Landscape Preservation and Management helps you develop awareness and build skills through a sequence of lecture- and studio-based courses. All courses in the program are either required courses or approved electives for the Certificate Program in Landscape Architecture, which enables you to progress concurrently through both programs. You may enroll in individual courses without registering for the Professional Sequence in Cultural Landscape Preservation and Management.
If you are a landscape architect, architect, planner, government or agency staff member, community activist or preservation enthusiast, the program familiarizes you with established professional practice standards, introduces you to the appropriate vocabulary and enables you to apply learned techniques to class assignments.
There are no prerequisites for the Professional Sequence in Cultural Landscape Preservation and Management. Please refer to the individual course descriptions for information about course prerequisites.
The curriculum consists of 5 required courses for a total of 9 semester units (144 hours of instruction). Candidates must pay a nonrefundable program registration fee.
All coursework must be completed within three years of registering for the program. However, requirements may be updated based on new developments in the field of study; we recommend completing the curriculum in a timely fashion. For more information, please see the completion requirements and the substitutions, waivers and transfer credit policies.By registering, you declare your intention to complete the curriculum. To register for the Professional Sequence in Cultural Landscape Preservation and Management, submit the online registration form with your credit card information or complete the mail-in registration form. The registration fee is nonrefundable.
You should register for the program before you complete your third course in the curriculum.
Each course is priced individually, and you pay the course fee at the time of enrollment. The program has an estimated cost of $3,000 (not including course materials or registration fee). Course fees are subject to change.
