Study abroad with UC Berkeley Extension’s College Foundations Program (CFP). Join other qualified international high school students for an introduction to university life. College-level courses and personal college admissions advising offer you a clear path to university. You can attend CFP for the summer term or begin in the fall and stay through the spring for a full academic year.

Additional Information

Please note the following information before applying to the College Foundations Program:

  • In some cases, the English proficiency exam can be waived. Email CFP with questions.
  • Program staff will assist students in finding safe, secure and comfortable housing on or near the UC Berkeley campus. Email CFP for details.
  • Students may enroll in as many as three terms, but prices and policies listed here are per term.
  • High school graduates may enroll in any term. Students who have not yet completed high school are encouraged to enroll in one of our summer (June/July–August) terms.
  • Visa and travel fees, meals, activities, textbook costs and living expenses are not included in the program fee. See estimated minimum expenses.
Participation in the College Foundations Program does not offer any advantage for a student's application to UC Berkeley or any other UC campus.
